On Trend: Widen that Pant Leg

Le SIGH. Do you hear it??

It's women around the world taking a collective sigh thanks to the '70s inspired pant legs that first showed up in designers Spring collections and are now quickly creeping into our favorite stores. While the skinnies are always fashionable, give them -- and yourself -- a breather in favor of wider leg lines and flares. It's so Spring 2011 (and 1974!). Pair yours with flowery, billowy tops or with great neutrals, both spring fashion faves headed your way!.

With a wider leg, I do recommend adding some height with your shoes -- it will instantly make you look long and lean. Look to heels and wedges (yay for comfort!), and keep your hem length in mind. You want to buy or hem your pants to the length you'll be wearing them most often. You don't want your pants too short (not cute! sorry) and too long can look sloppy and will destroy them over time.

Enjoy the new look... it's totally groovy, baby.

Buy these during Gap's next sale, for at least 30-40 percent off. No reason to ever pay full price there!

Genetic Denim, Adriane Mid Rise Quilted Bell Jeans, $209.00
The quintessential bell-bottom jean, but so much better.

American Eagle, Vintage Flare Jeans, $44.50
A great affordable look, though avoid front pocket embellishments if you want to minimize curvier hips.

White pants or jeans are a spring/summer must; rock them day or night.

And, I saved my favorite for last... a more casual take on the trend.
These aren't too much, so they'll work for seasons to come. I love a slimming wide/straight leg.

Seven for all Mankind, Wide Leg Jeans, $59.00 (reg. $118)
Ideal for casual Friday at the office or to meet the in-laws.
