Yellow... Not So Mellow

My nails are yellow.
And, not because I have jaundice, but because I actually painted them like this.
Really. I thought I'd be all fashionable and cool, but I learned a valuable lesson:
all looks are not for all people.
This one is for me! Haha.

color: mellow yellow /
ignore the awful at-home mani.
It looks way cuter and less jarring yellow close up, I think, than it does looking at it here.
"School bus" yellow, my bro said.  I don't think that was a compliment, right?
I was hoping for a chic Chanel Mimosa look-alike after seeing Jennifer from The Looks for Less show off similar colors in a recent Manicure Monday.  While I was still on the fence, I yearned for the bright color after a tweet exchange with Dianna from The Budget Babe I was convinced this was for me.
Negative.
Do not despair however. I totally think yellow nails could work on some. Particularly if you are darker skinned than I (doesn't take much; ha). If nail polish isn't for you,
check out these sunshine-soaked accessories to get you in the mood...
Anything you're totally loving??

Wear with anything! Love the pop of color; these are thisclose to the same look as a million pricier options.

Use this wristlet as a handy pouch to store make-up, coupons, anything during the day and pull it out for "emergency" happy hour situations. comes in five colors.

much love illy, large yellow rose ring, $11.50
Talk about a steal on a statement maker! She also has adorable yellow rose earrings for just $6ish!
Bonus: the gal who makes these is aweosme.

old navy, tie-dyed infinity scarf, $14.94
Don't be shy about pairing this with a pattern. If you're not there yet, opt for a solid color.... maybe in a contrasting color (purple, blue, etc) to add depth to your look.

What do you think about the color yellow?
Any favorite yellow items in your closet?

I love the look on yellow nails, when I see it on everyone else. But I really don't think it would work well on me either! Its so true what you said, all looks aren't for all people. Love your other yellow suggestions!

I love the yellow nails but agree too that not all looks will work for everyone. I can totally see this though for summertime with tanned skin, white sundress and this pop of yellow nails along with the other accessories you mentioned like the scarf and sandals. Tres chic!

I use yellow polish when I am painting brightly colored dots or stripes on top of another color, like black. I can't wear yellow polish alone because it looks stpuid on me. And I am sad.

LOL, SO glad I'm not the only one here! It's important to realize what works for you and what doesn't. Clearly yellow isn't for everyone!
LOVING these other yellow items I found, however.

Well you can put some gray or black crackle polish on top, so you can still use the yellow polish. Or you can get a nail polish pen and do some funky designs or you can get a nail stamp and stamp your nails with a design. :D

I bought the same polish but have not been brave enough to paint my nails yellow yet. I hope I am not sad when I do. I love yellow, but mostly as accents in my home, or accessories like shoes or a purse. I have tried wearing yellow in the form of a top, but it just doesn't go well with my skin tone. Which makes me question why I even bought yellow nail polish.

Yellow makes me so happy. So very, very happy! I don't think it's a particularly flattering color on me, but I love it so much that I find ways to throw it in, either with a belt or shoes or a jacket. It's the perfect pop of color!

Moni: LOVE the idea of putting on the shatter, duh! What a great idea!

Jen: let me know how your adventures in yellow polish go. Oddly, while I think this is absurd on me, I still haven't taken it off. Haha. It is a conversation starter!

Melissa: def! Better on accessories than thisclose to my skin.

Mandy: exactly! Love having a million trends; everyone can find their fave!
