A Gal Must: Good Reading!

For 2011, I'm determined to get in some more good entertaining, heart-wrenching, dramatic and engaging reading. For a million reasons (err, excuses), I haven't dug into enough books and feeling really behind the curve. As a creative gal who loves words (a little nerdy? maybe),

I really need to put down the People StyleWatch and pick up one of this year's best sellers, or a little-known-find that should be on that darn list.

Here's a few books on my hit list...

{Amazon for the best prices!}

What's your current favorite?

I'm game for anything from the serious to the light-hearted (I have read most of the Jane Green rom/com books). There's so many great options out there right now and I'm looking forward to cuddle up on the couch, wrapped in my fleece blanket with a good book in hand (sorry folks, no Kindle for me... at least yet).

Happy reading... and share your must reads!

you know that i LOVE the hunger games ;) to keep up with that genre and action-packed goodness, i moved on to the maze runner. you might like it - not as good as HG, but def worth the read. i also loved Matched - which is a mix of HG and twilight (no vampires, just the romance side - hehe).

    happy wednesday, friend!

I just recently read The Help and it was very well written and interesting. It follows the lives of black maids during the Civil Rights movement and it was so thought provoking, especially the way people could, with one breath, say that that black people were unclean and unequal AND say that "racists are out there." It was a very mind-boggling dialogue for me. I would def-def-definitely recommend it! It IS serious, though, so keep that in mind. It's not a light read.

I just borrowed the Hunger Games from a coworker, I've nothing but good things about it so I'm stoked to read it and see what all the hype is about.

OMG, I was planning to start a segment on my blog/youtube about my read of the month. Great minds must think alike. I plan to focus on just fun beach-type, chic-lit books (kinda goes with the blog theme).

I just finished reading Nanny Returns. I loved the Nanny Diaries and this was a good sequel. Fun if you liked The Devil Wears Prada and the like.

I heard The Help was supposed to be a really good book too.

we just read "the help" in our book club, i really enjoyed it! at our discussion the host had chocolate pie. when you read the book you will understand the humor!

i mostly enjoy the types of books erika mentioned (fun, girly, beachy) but those dont get read much in book clubs...haha!

we are currently reading "their eyes were watching god" which was a high school read for me....different to read now.
my all time favorite is "to kill a mockingbird" followed by "midnight in the garden of good and evil"

i look forward to hearing about the books you get into!

you MUST read "the help"! it's soooo good! the best kind of book is the kind that sucks you in and you can't put it down, and that is it! so funny and the characters are just so real. "Hunger Games" is on my list for my next one in line after I finish reading "Girl with the Dragon Tatto," since i'm probably the only person in the world that didn't read it in 2010!
